In 2021, UNC Charlotte initiated a rebranding initiative that included a new logo, updated guidance for referring to the university conversationally, and a university-wide domain change. The domain change, occurring in multiple phases, included a deadline for the library to transition Alma and Primo VE to new domains by August 2022.
A redirect seemed like the simplest solution, but would it work for our frequently used permalinks or would we have to ask faculty to manually update their permalinks? How could we prepare library staff and users and what if it didn’t work as expected?
This presentation will outline the activities, challenges, and outcomes of our library’s project to change domain names for our Alma and Primo VE production environments. Presenters will discuss strategies for ensuring seamless access to resources including: testing new domains, updating integration profiles and publishers profiles in Alma, vendor accounts, OpenURL link resolvers, and SAML profiles.
