Customizing Primo VE Database Search for a Corporate Environment
Session Abstract
In 2019, ExxonMobil adopted Alma and Primo VE as our corporate strategic solution for finding published unstructured data -- journals, books, subscription databases, articles, conference proceedings, etc. In this presentation, we will share one of the projects we worked on to gather information about subscriptions paid for by groups outside of the library, enabling ExxonMobil to reduce duplication and save money. We implemented the Database Search as a single search portal with a customer-centric taxonomy to help our users discover what subscriptions the corporation makes available, how they can get access those resources, who they can contact to find out more, and how to request unsubscribed new materials.
Learning Outcome #1
Participants will understand how to begin creating an institution-specific taxonomy for databases.
Learning Outcome #2
Participants will be able to use electronic collections in non-standard ways to enable access or allow customers to request access to limited-user resources.
