Merge Madness: Understanding and Using Alma Merge Rules
Session Abstract
Merge rules are powerful but complicated and out-of-the-box rules often don’t do what they claim to do. This presentation will describe the merge rules themselves, and how to evaluate, edit, and create rules to accomplish different needs. It will also review the profile and configuration areas where merge rules are specified for different processes. This presentation will include guidance for consortial environments, showing what configuration is necessary for both the Institution Zone and Network Zone.

At the end of this session, participants will be able to create, edit, and evaluate Alma merge rules, locate where merge rules are configured, identify whether records are primary or secondary, and perform merges of bibliographic records in Alma.
