Batch Item Withdrawals in Alma: From Review to Removal
Session Abstract
Since migrating to Alma in 2017, UNLV University Libraries has rebuilt our physical item withdrawal processes to better use available Alma functionality. We use Alma Analytics reports, exports, and repository searches to examine the bibliographic and inventory records of items proposed for withdrawal. Once items have been approved for withdrawal, we then use work orders, sets, and jobs to manage the actual processing of items and removal of item records. A 2020 presentation focused on our specific withdrawal and reinstatement workflows; this updated presentation is a broader look at our overall workflow for managing withdrawal projects and includes how we review records before withdrawal. Some details may appear specific to our institution, but the intention is to present our processes in a way that allows other institutions to determine how they might develop workflows that work for them.
Learning Outcome #1
At the end of the session, participants will gain an understanding of how different functions in Alma can be used to support batch withdrawal projects.
