Managing Bibliographic and Holdings Data Using Alma/MarcEdit Integration
Session Abstract
The integration of Alma and MarcEdit via API creates many possibilities and convenience for batch MARC data maintenance. It allows easy retrieval and manipulation of Alma bibliographic and holdings data to be performed directly in MarcEdit and saved in Alma in real-time. Some possible use cases include: changing fixed field codes to resolve data validation errors; performing batch changes for name or subject headings for authority control purposes; making location or call number changes in holdings, all of which cannot be easily resolved by normalization rules or when creating a process to run a one-time job is not practical. This presentation will illustrate the configuration of MarcEdit to integrate Alma and explain the process of performing batch searches to retrieve Alma bibliographic or holdings data in MarcEdit and make and save changes in Alma, all within the MarcEdit platform.
