Session Abstract

Generation Fifth Applications announced early this year that they would cease operations on March 31, 2022.  This somewhat surprising development left institutions using their Library Archival Software with little time to decide how to carry on with inventory management. With few options in that market, I want to demonstrate how WRLC accomplishes many critical inventory management functions in our Alma institution zone. Many large institutions with off-site storage facilities have already moved or are moving to Alma.  The use of separate software for inventory may not be necessary. And whether you need inventory control or not, some of the Alma tools we have developed for inventory at WRLC can be extended to serve a wide variety of other needs too.

Learning Outcome #1

How we use web applications leveraging the Alma API to allow off-site storage staff to interact with items without altering metadata critical for discovery, resource sharing, and fulfillment.

Learning Outcome #2

How we use web applications leveraging the Alma API for recording and tracking the location of materials inside large warehouse environments while providing quality control and error prevention.
