Planning authentication projects and implementing solutions is a challenge with one institution, especially when that institution uses multiple types of authentication systems depending on campus or school. Likewise, you will require even more preparation when you are working with multiple institutions and IT departments for a consortium. Each stage of the process brings complexity: from having those initial conversations with IT departments, to obtaining user information, to testing with users. This presentation will outline the various types of authentication and authorization supported by Alma and Primo/Primo VE and associated off-campus access solutions; how to implement these in the most user-friendly manner possible; and how to configure discovery to guide users to the correct manner of authentication depending on their situation. We will cover both an institution with multiple campuses and authentication based on user types, and consortial environments with both network zone and multi-installation contexts.
Attendees will be be able to recognize the authentication systems supported by Alma and Primo.
Attendees will be able to analyze the authentnication and authorization needs for multiple campuses or institutions with different systems.
Attendees will be able to recognize necessary or useful authenication projects to improve user experience.
