Session Abstract

The Orbis Cascade Alliance migrated from Primo BO to Primo VE in June 2022. In this presentation, we describe how the Normalization Rules Standing Group (NRSG) of the Alliance re-implemented several fields and subfields in our VE discovery interface to prepare for our June 2022 migration. During the migration planning period, the NRSG re-implemented over 70 normalization rules for display, search, and facet in Primo VE to best resemble the existing Primo BO discovery interface. We discuss the challenges and learning moments we experienced while migrating these normalization rules, the extent to which they are being utilized by member institutions, and possible next steps for promoting their use more extensively.

Learning Outcome #1

Participants will be able to customize display, facet, and search rules.

Learning Outcome #2

Participants will learn which of the normalization rules created by the NRSG have been implemented at various institutions among the Orbis Cascade Alliance.

Learning Outcome #3

Participants will understand how the Orbis Cascade Alliance administers a (mostly) centralized approach to the dissemination of normalization rules.
