For libraries with a large number of electronic collections and electronic resources management (ERM) projects, it is challenging to keep track of changes in vendors, collections, and project progress. That important information may be scattered across emails, local/online spreadsheets, and databases, resulting in a lack of access control or real-time Alma information retrieval function, making it hard to search and manage. This presentation will introduce a web database application that uses Alma Electronic Resources API, which gathers and organizes information needed by ERM librarians in one place. It allows authorized users to filter, edit, batch import, and export data and search collection/project information from both Alma and user input data. The speaker will share the electronic resources management challenges that they faced, the technical difficulties they had using Alma APIs, and some considerations for the future.
Participants will learn to use the ERM web application and learn from the speaker's experience with building a web application using Alma APIs.
Participants will have a better understanding of Alma Electronic Resources APIs and how it can help with ERM.
Learners will be able to identify opportunities for improving the efficiency of resources management at their own institutions.
