Leganto Caliperization at the University of Minnesota
Session Abstract
Learning analytics is the measurement, collection, analysis, and reporting of student learning data to understand, improve, and support learning and student success. Caliper Analytics from 1EdTech enables institutions to collect learning data from digital resources in a standardized way to better understand and visualize learning activity. Leganto usage data is well suited for inclusion into campus learning analytics projects since it is already tied to the learning management system, specific courses, assigned course materials, and student usage of those materials. In partnership with Ex Libris, 1EdTech, Unizin, and campus IT, the University of Minnesota Libraries have been working to "caliperize" Leganto student usage data using the new Caliper Library Profile and deposit that data into the Unizin Data Platform. This session will describe the Leganto Caliperization project, the use of the Caliper Library Profile, student privacy, and opt-out functionality, and the timeline of the project.

Participants will learn about Caliper Analytics, the Caliper Library Profile, and how Leganto can be used to potentially participate in campus learning analytics projects.

Participants will learn about privacy and opt-out measures that can be taken with Leganto that will enable students to have a choice about data collection.
