Configuring CDL Policies and Practices Using Alma Digital: Our Experience
Session Abstract
Controlled Digital Lending (CDL) is a popular topic in the library community, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The University of Kentucky Libraries sought to implement a CDL program of its own, and to do so, it turned to the Alma Digital product. This presentation will outline the CDL policies and workflows developed after the UK Libraries implemented Alma Digital in preparation for this service. Topics that will be explored in this presentation include creating collections in Alma for CDL resources, adding digital representations, the different types of viewer services Alma provides, creating access rights for CDL, the user experience when lending digital representations, deposit profiles, and the policies we created to launch CDL at UK Libraries.
