Session Abstract

The University of Oregon, based in Eugene, Oregon, is establishing a new campus in Portland, after purchasing the land and buildings of a closed college. Classes will start there this coming Fall, but not all of the existing Portland operations are ready to move yet, so we will be operating both the old extant library there and the new library for at least a school year.  Come hear about our journey to prepare for this period of time operating libraries in parallel. We researched and experimented with a variety of approaches and configurations, and believe this experience will be of interest to a wide audience. We are an R1 university, using Alma, Rapido, and Primo VE. We have a number of institutional UO libraries and operate in a large consortial environment.

Learning Outcome #1

Attendees will learn about a variety of approaches and Alma configuration needs and considerations for standing up a new library.

Learning Outcome #2

Attendees will learn from and interact with other attendees during the Q&A session regarding their own new library experiences.
