Session Abstract

The University of Nevada Las Vegas Libraries recently revised the short loan/reserves loan rules from mostly hourly loans to allowing items to be returned before the library closed for the day. The goal of this change was to allow students to keep reserve items for longer periods without worrying about accruing fines or needing to return to the Circulation Desk to renew their loans. Another related and just as important goal was to make it easier for library staff and student assistants to explain the loan periods for our short loan items. The loan rule changes went into effect before the start of the Fall 2022 semester. This presentation will cover how we made these changes and explore their outcomes.

Learning Outcome #1

At the end of this session, participants will be able to understand how to evaluate, edit and create fulfillment unit rules.
