VETTing Discovery: Testing New Features as a Consortium in the California State Universities
Presentation Topic Description
In 2017, the California State Universities (CSU) switched over to Ex Libris as a consortium with oversight from the CSU Chancellor’s Office.
In collaboration with the Council of Library Deans (COLD) subcommittees and CSU Library's communities of practice, the Discovery Functional Committee, monitors and updates workflows and system configurations, conducts meetings and training workshops, and recommends policies and solutions related to discovery practices within the Unified Library Management System (ULMS).
By Summer 2021, with the switch to Primo VE from Primo BO, we saw a need for some kind of consortia-wide testing group specifically designed for Discovery. While individual CSU campuses have their own responsibilities and authority when implementing new features, it was apparent that a testing group with the capabilities of making broad recommendations would be advantageous for all the CSU campuses - VETT (VE Testing Team) was born.
This presentation outlines the need for VETT with the trials, tribulations, and triumphs of getting the team up and running.
