Abstract

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a pervasive neurodevelopmental condition affecting approximately 1 in 59 children. Children with ASD are at-risk for increased school refusal, social isolation, and peer victimization. School counselors have a responsibility to respond to these issues. However, school counselors report that they are not prepared to assist students with disabilities when they graduate. This session will address educational issues faced by students with ASD and strategies to assist students.
