Abstract
The Association for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Issues in Counseling Competencies urges that all persons have the potential to live a fully functioning, emotionally healthy life. High school experiences are stunting LGBTQ+ youth's potential; they experience higher levels of victimization, resulting in a disconnect from their school community, poor academic performance, and decreased desire for post-secondary education. School Counselors are uniquely positioned to address this vulnerability through individualized college and career readiness activities.
