Abstract
Many k-12 students experience trauma prior to entering kindergarten. A variety of experiences ranging from domestic violence and abuse to natural disasters and racism can lead to symptoms of trauma. This session will focus on understanding symptoms of childhood trauma and its impacts on the academic, social/emotional, and career development of students. School counselor strategies and interventions for addressing trauma from within a social justice framework will be explored.
