This presentation aims to address the unique challenges faced by first-generation low-income students in accessing higher education, particularly Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). By exploring strategies for increasing opportunities and support, we will discuss the role of school counselors in guiding these students towards HBCUs. Attendees will gain insights into innovative practices, resources, and partnerships that can empower first-gen low-income students to pursue and attend HBCUs, which could be life changing.
