Abstract

In this session a proof of concept of how an Arduino microcontroller with an RFID module can be used to handle RFID tags via the Alma GUI will be presented. This can be of interest to libraries in the process of integrating RFID readers with Alma or anyone who wants to take a closer look at the steps involved when data travels between the Alma GUI and an RFID tag.

The integration with Alma is using the standard RFID Integration Profile. For communication between the Alma GUI and the Arduino a lightweight Python webserver is used. Reading from, writing to, and handling security bits in RFID tags encoded using ISO 28560-3 / DS/INF 28560 “The Danish Data Model” is supported.

So, break out your soldering irons and let’s start prototyping.
