Biographical Information

In 2013, Lisa was promoted to the Lead Recreational Therapist at the Illinois DHS Treatment and Detention Facility (IDHS TDF) for Liberty Healthcare Corporation, where she began as a Recreation Therapist in 2010. In addition to leading team of recreational therapists for more than 11 years, she serves as a member of the clinical department leadership team and manages the recreational therapy intern program. Lisa and her staff provide recreational therapy growth opportunities to civilly committed adult men who have a history of sexually harming others. Lisa has dedicated her career to therapeutic recreation since receiving her bachelor's degree in Leisure Studies with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation from the University of Iowa in 2007, earning her CTRS shortly thereafter. Prior to her current position she worked in a variety of residential treatment settings with adults with mental illness and intellectual disabilities, and volunteers for a therapeutic horsemanship program for children with disabilities. Lisa received her master's degree in Recreation, Parks and Tourism Administration in 2013 from Western Illinois University. Lisa finds value in supporting her teammates to help clients realize their potential through recreation, develop life skills, and build a balanced meaningful life.
