The following is the TENTATIVE program and schedule for the 2024 ATRA Annual Conference in Kansas City, MO. Presentations, times and other details are subject to change between now and the start of the conference in October.

Regarding CEUs, please note: NCTRC CE Pre-approval will be pending; all sessions may not have been approved by NCTRC. We will post an update when approval for sessions has been received and sessions appropriate for specialty certification as identified by NCTRC.

Biographical Information

Dr. Jeff Witman works with the Clubs program for the Woodlands Foundation. He also provides programs and consultation through Wellbeing Initiatives, LLC.
Jeff has facilitated team-building and leadership development programs for a variety of organizations including Teambuilders, Inc., Pecos River Learning Center and Camelback Mountain Resort. Clients have included Ernst & Young, American Express, Wellspan Healthcare, the Milton Hershey School, Easter Seals and United Disability Services. His book "Taking the Initiative" (Sagamore) details the content/process of these programs.
Jeff's many years in practice included stints as Director of Occupational Therapy and Therapeutic Recreation Services at Hampstead Hospital in NH and as Director of Recreational Therapy with Philhaven Behavioral Health in PA. At Hampstead he was part of the interdisciplinary team which established one of the first brief treatment units in New England. At Philhaven he was part of the Adventure Challenge Experience, a seminal program effort in behavioral health treatment.
Dr. Witman taught RT full-time at York College, Lock Haven University and Kent State University and part-time at various schools. He's been a frequent speaker at RT gatherings and author of RT publications.
Jeff served as President of several state and national professional organizations and has held leadership positions with Best Buddies, Special Olympics, Very Special Arts and Senior Olympics. Jeff has received both the Distinguished Fellow Award and the Scholarly Achievement Award from the American Therapeutic Recreation Association. He has served as Editor of the ATRA Annual and as Guest Editor for special issues of the Therapeutic Recreation Journal.
