Biographical Information

Shelby Sharpe is currently faculty at Texas State University teaching recreational therapy courses and coordinating internships for graduate and undergraduate RT students. She obtained her PhD at Oklahoma State University, has her master’s in public administration from Northeastern University, and earned her bachelor’s in recreational therapy at Texas State. Shelby has been a recreational therapist for 11 years. Her primary experience has been in the community, acute behavioral/mental health, and military settings. Shelby is a young researcher focusing on special populations and community connection, with a specific interest in military service members. Her passion for research, teaching and the field drives her to support advancements in RT professionals and programs in all settings and populations Shelby is excited to share her knowledge and assist in facilitating growth within the profession.

Biographical Information

I am Dr. Brittany Mays, an Assistant Professor at Langston University in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. I have recently completed my Doctoral Degree at Oklahoma State University in Health, Human Performance and Leisure. I am also currently working as CTRS part time at Tulsa Center for Behavioral Health in Tulsa, OK. I have been a part of several research projects throughout my time at OSU and I am currently working on many publications, grants, and research. I have a passion for research, teaching and Recreational Therapy and find that service in research plays a vital role in enhancing Recreational Therapy programs in all settings and populations.
