Not Horrible Bosses: Lessons on Effective & Fulfilling Leadership
Session Description
Advancement in our field almost always requires taking on supervisory responsibilities. At the same time, becoming a supervisor almost always comes with little, if any, training on how to effectively lead people. The consequences of poor management quickly become apparent with staff burnout, high turnover, and workplace drama. Add on the challenges of managing across different time zones, cultures, and generations, and becoming a successful people leader can sound daunting.
However, being a good manager is not innate and can be learned. Come hear from senior team leaders across high school, college, and organization settings about how they tackle particular management challenges and develop their teams. You'll walk away with tools to keep learning and a renewed view of supervision not as a chore, but as a means to help grow future generations of professionals in our field.
This session is intended for mid-career to advanced professionals who aspire to take on or already have supervisory and team leadership responsibilities.
