Session Description

Writing applications can be daunting for students, especially when they are applying to a variety of institutions. Students sometimes have wide-ranging interests, and that range is reflected in the varying requirements and purposes of the applications. Come to this session to learn about a variety of writing required for applications and how to counsel students as they struggle with representing themselves well in their applications. We will review key similarities and differences in the writing required, and advice, for the Common Application essay and Activities section, key supplemental essays for the US, the personal statement for the UK and the letter of motivation for the EU. College and university representatives will give examples and talk about what they are looking for in the application writing.
