2025 International ACAC Conference Sessions

Beyond the Classroom: A Global Lens on Extracurriculars & Their Impact in College Admissions

Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 4:00 PM–5:15 PM EDT

Session Description

We often find many helpful sessions at International ACAC related to educational systems, transcripts, and academics, but as college/university admission becomes more and more selective, extracurricular activities can be an important way for applicants to distinguish themselves. How can students best communicate the ways they have spent their time outside of class? How might colleges and universities use this information in their admission reviews? This session includes representatives from Ghana, China, the UK, and US, and aims to bring perspectives from all sides of the desk (high school counselors, IECs, and college/university reps) together as we consider effective ways to support students toward meaningful engagement outside of the classroom.
