Following this session, participants will be able to articulate discovery and access considerations in order to make the most informed collection development decision possible.

Following this session, participants will have concrete examples of ways their discovery and collection development departments can collaborate to improve access to new purchases.

Following this session, participants will be prepared and inspired to engage the entire library in conversations about discovery and access.

Abstract

Issues of electronic resource metadata, linking, indexing, and off-campus access make or break the success of a new electronic resource. It’s time to start discussing these discovery issues at the time of purchase, and deepen the relationship between collection development and discovery departments through collaboration, education, and communication.
