Continuing Education (CEUs):

United For Impact: Statewide Partnerships For Para Athlete Development (0.1 CEUs)
Session Description
In this session, Texas Parasport will show how strategic statewide collaborations can foster the growth of para-athletes from grassroots to elite levels. Drawing on decades of experience in adaptive sports, participants will explore best practices for building partnerships with National Governing Bodies, schools, and community organizations. Attendees will learn how collaborative approaches can increase accessibility, resource-sharing, and talent development, creating more equitable opportunities for athletes with disabilities to thrive. Participants will learn about track and field and archery, identifying adaptive equipment and considerations for different athletes’ recreational therapists will serve.
Note for Attendees:
This session will be presented twice, attendees will receive CEU credit only once. After your first session, you will switch to the other Morgan's Sports session with a brief transition. Please be prepared to be outdoors and wear comfortable clothes for participating in the adaptive sports experiential learning demonstration
Learning Outcomes
1. Identify Effective Collaboration Strategies: Attendees will learn best practices for forming partnerships with various stakeholders, including National Governing Bodies, schools, and community organizations, to enhance the development of para-athletes.
2. Enhance Accessibility and Inclusion: Participants will explore methods to create more equitable opportunities in adaptive sports, focusing on resource-sharing and community engagement to improve accessibility.
3. Apply equipment fittings, modifications and skill acquisition for shooting sports, track, field, and water skiing for individuals with disabilities.

Jennifer Weatherford, Texas Parasport
Biographical Information
Jennifer Weatherford is the Director of Operations and Military Programs for Texas Regional Para Sport. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Sports Science (ESS) with a minor in Psychology. She received her Master’s degree in Recreation and Leisure Services (MSRLS) in 2010 and immediately became a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS). She has had the honor of providing adaptive sports and recreation opportunities for community members and service members with disabilities for almost 15 years.
She completed her internship at the Center For the Intrepid (CFI) then started working for the Paralympic Military Program. She worked as a government contractor for Armed Forces Services Corporation, then went to work for Operation Comfort in 2015. She founded Wild at Heart Inclusive Fitness LLC in 2020 to provide 1:1 services for clients with disabilities and to be able to work with various organizations. Texas Parasport was at the top of the list. Jennifer is a passionate, young leader excited to make a difference in this world.
Jennifer lives in Spring Branch, Texas with her husband, Ben, and their son, Bryson. Her husband is a Physical Therapist for Owens Recovery Science and they love to give back. They are a very active family that love God, nature and sports.
