Friday Night Lights: Adaptive and Inclusive Sports and Outdoor Expo at Morgans Sports (0.2 CEUs)
Session Description
This interactive two-hour session at Morgans Sports will focus on building inclusive and adaptive sports and outdoor recreation opportunities that engage individuals with disabilities. Participants will explore a range of modifications, adaptations, and variations that make sports and outdoor interventions accessible and empowering for people of all ages and abilities.
The session will blend evidence-based practices, lived experiences, and hands-on demonstrations to help attendees design and support programming that promotes physical fitness, social engagement, skill development, and community inclusion. Whether you're new to adaptive sports or looking to deepen your knowledge, this session will provide practical tools and inspiration to make a difference through inclusive recreation. Participants will engage in real-time hands-on learning with community members with disabilities through numerous adaptive sport and outdoor experiences in an expo-style event.
Note for Attendees:
Please be prepared to be outdoors and wear comfortable clothes for participating in the adaptive sports experiential learning demonstration
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
Identify key physical, cognitive, and sensory considerations when adapting sports and outdoor activities for individuals with disabilities.
Describe a range of modifications, adaptations, and equipment that support inclusive participation across various sports and outdoor experiences.
Explain how adaptive and outdoor sports contribute to physical, emotional, and social well-being for individuals with disabilities.
Engage in hands-on exploration of inclusive equipment and strategies through expo demonstrations and collaborative activities.
