Following this session, participants will be able to:
- Understand the decision points a small academic library may consider when selecting a Unified Resource Management System, such as OCLC WorldShare or Ex Libris Alma
- Develop insight into the planning and implementation stages of migrating from a traditional ILS to a cloud-based URM
- Strengthen their perceptions of the potential gains and efficiencies inherent in a transistion to a URM
- Comprehend the factors involved in migrating from a standalone ERMS to one that is united with the ILS and Discovery
Abstract
An increasing number of academic libraries plan to move beyond the traditional ILS to a next-gen library system. While most institutions have chosen OCLC WorldShare, we will examine the rationale behind Rollins College's decision to implement the Alma URM and outline the details related to the planning process.
