Fake It 'til You Make It: A Pep Talk for New Electronic Resources Librarians

Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 4:15 PM–5:00 PM CST
Salon A/B
Conference Track

3. Organizational Strategies

Workflows, Dynamic role of the ERL

Learning Objectives

Following this session, participants will be able to either work more effectively as new ERLs or to more efficiently work with their new-to-the field ERL colleagues, rewrite existing workflows as needed and create workflows where there is chaos, and to better define the role of an ERL in an academic library.

For Electronic Resources Librarians, there is no formal training and no two jobs are alike.  This talk presents a survival guide for librarians new to electronic resources management. We discuss common challenges, problem-solving approaches, time-management, and other strategies for a successful transition into this complex area of librarianship.
