Session Abstract

This study investigated whether training in English connected speech, stress and intonation improved speaking and listening comprehension for utterance content and speaker intent. We present diagnostics, revealing learner beliefs and establishing baseline abilities, instructional materials and methods to teach speaking and listening, and summative assessments measuring increased metacognition and skills.
