Five Recommendations for a Metacognitive-Focused Approach to Teaching Intonation
viernes, el 8 de mayo de 2015 a las 14:30–15:15 EDT
Middlesex East
Session Abstract
Teaching English intonation is challenging: students report it’s merely decorative, relying instead on lexical information to grasp speaker meaning; teachers struggle to enable learners to infer implications from the pitch contours native speakers use unconsciously. This presentation demonstrates a metacognitive strategy-based approach with proven efficacy drawn from original empirical data.
