Abstract

The Alma Linked Open Data (LOD) Editor for BIBFRAME was released in February to support libraries transitioning to a BIBFRAME cataloging environment. This hands-on workshop will provide participants with practical experience using the tool and an opportunity to discuss cataloging best practices.

The session will begin with a brief overview of linked data, BIBFRAME, and the Alma LOD Editor. Participants will learn how BIBFRAME Works and Instances are represented and how linked data cataloging differs from traditional MARC workflows. Participants will then collaboratively explore monograph cataloging in BIBFRAME using the Alma LOD Editor by working with Alma templates to create Work and Instance records.

By the end of the workshop, participants will have a foundational understanding of Alma templates as well as BIBFRAME cataloging workflows in Alma.
