Abstract

The University of Haifa Library catalogs hundreds of M.A. and Ph.D. theses yearly. As we are not programmers, we used AI-assisted development to create a pipeline that ingests a thesis PDF and lands an enriched MARC record in Alma.
The automation interleaves scripts with LLM calls for judgment-heavy work. We use three parallel subject sources: LCSH, Israeli NLI and our local theses subjects - all are synthesized by a Master Archivist agent, with layered guardrails against hallucination and a fully auditable decision trail.
We will share experiences, results, and honest reflections.
