Abstract

GenAI is widely recognised for its ability to write scripts, but can a librarian without a programming background use it to learn how to work more effectively with Alma and the Alma API?

This presentation outlines how we used AI-generated scripts to (1) calculate the total Alma OAI output, (2) correct patron role expiry dates, (3) remove outdated resource sharing partners, and (4) retrieve vendor details that are not available in Analytics, without going through the usual process of engaging developer support.

This paper also reflects on the reasoning behind our prompting approach, along with the limitations and concerns we identified.
