Abstract

UNSW Library is collaborating with IT on utilising the enterprise Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) platform to manage Alma users.

The IGA platform is a centralised identity management platform that manages digital identities and access rights across diverse systems in the university.

Onboarding Alma to the IGA will dramatically change the way that staff, students, contractors, alumni and community members are managed in Alma.

Currently staff and students are imported to Alma via SIS (Student Information Systems) import. The Library receives source files of user data in various formats from various upstream systems. The source files are transformed into Alma SIS XML by script before users are loaded to Alma via three separate SIS integration profiles.

Onboarding Alma to the IGA service means that the process will change from file-based to API-based. Changes to data in upstream systems will trigger the IGA system to do Alma user API calls to add or update Alma user records.
