Conference
Academic libraries increasingly face the challenge of managing large legacy print journal collections alongside extensive electronic access. This presentation describes a project to evaluate and reorganize a print journal collection of approximately 800 titles (24,000 items), using Alma as the central system.
The project included two phases: first, a structured evaluation of each title based on criteria such as electronic availability, physical completeness, national availability, academic relevance, and institutional value, supported by a weighted Excel model; and second, reclassification of retained titles using Dewey, while maintaining the existing physical location.
Alma Analytics and data exports were used to support decision-making, reduce manual work, and ensure consistency. The presentation focuses on practical workflows, challenges, and lessons learned in implementing data-driven collection management at scale.
