Abstract

Since transitioning to Alma in 2021, King’s College London Libraries & Collections had not had any automated mechanism for making long overdue books lost and charging the patrons who had not returned them…until now! In 2025, our customer service and system support teams collaborated on setting up a lost books process in Alma for precisely this purpose. This presentation will take viewers through how the process was setup in Alma and why certain functionality was used in favour of others. We’ll also be assessing the impact and benefits of the new process almost a year after it went live and any planned future developments.
