Abstract

Bond University Library is focused on making archival collections more visible, meaningful, and engaging. Through the Specto Early Adopters Program, we explored how AI tools can transform static digital archives into discoverable, connected resources.

This presentation outlines our implementation, from metadata workflows to AI-driven entity extraction of people and places, and metadata enrichment. Specto also supports curated storytelling via its Exhibition Builder.

These tools bring archives to life by revealing hidden connections and enabling narrative access. Practical insights will cover data preparation, workflow design, governance of AI-generated metadata, and balancing automation with expertise.

Attendees will gain a clear understanding of the benefits, limitations, and how to apply these approaches to activate collections within the Alma ecosystem.
