Abstract

Primo NDE isn't just a new experience for end users, it is also uncharted territory for developers who previously built custom modules in Primo VE. NDE is a full rewrite of the Primo interface using a modern framework, with an entirely new approach to UI customization. This opens exciting possibilities, but it also means that all existing custom modules need to be rewritten from scratch.

This session documents one developer's experience converting two custom modules to NDE. Both are used in a consortial setting, where quick deployment and the ability to make on-the-fly adjustments are needed, while still leaving room for local settings at the member library level.

We will walk through the migration process step by step, highlight key differences between Primo VE and NDE development and unlock real-life strategies for a successful migration.
