Dimensional scoring provides quantitative data that allows us to identify which parts of a free-response question (FRQ) are most challenging for students. This can enhance our approach to areas for growth, allowing more targeted teaching. In this session, an AP Environmental Science teacher will guide participants through an analysis of data from dimensional scoring on the AP Environmental Science Exam. We’ll consider how student strengths vary with respect to content knowledge across units and science practices. We’ll also consider what point-by-point scores reveal about student performance when using different task verbs. This will be an interactive session with opportunities to analyze why and how students perform differently when responding to specific prompts. By participating in this session, teachers will gain a greater understanding of the various applications of point-by-point data for supporting student success on the AP Environmental Science Exam.
