Description

Like many institutions, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Libraries has increasingly undertaken projects related to the creation, management, and preservation of both digitized and born-digital content. This content comes in a plethora of forms and from a wide variety of sources. Through a desire to both ensure the long-term preservation of our digital assets and wrangle our preservation-worthy digital content into a single, robust environment, UNL Libraries committed to the implementation of a digital preservation system and selected the Rosetta software developed by Ex Libris. This session will focus on UNL Libraries progress toward implementing Rosetta. We will discuss where we faltered and where we prevailed; the complexities of Rosetta and how we made them work for our needs; the challenges inherent in heterogeneity—of content, of users, and of needs; and the lessons we learned through embarking on this digital preservation challenge.
