Session Description

Multisector community collaboratives have become an effective approach for addressing many complex social problems, and grantmakers often play a role in convening or sponsoring these initiatives. While research data can be a powerful driver of collaborative strategy and actionable outcomes, participating organizations may lack the capacity to collect or utilize data, and data sharing may not occur due to practical, technical or other difficulties. In order to fully leverage collaborative potential, it is necessary to develop trust and build data-use capacity among stakeholders. Join us for a discussion about the opportunities and inherent tensions in the use of data when engaging multiple stakeholders in a community initiative. Through concrete examples, session participants will learn strategies to understand and support grantees’ capacity building in data inquiry, planning and use to support collaborative work.
