Description
In June of 2014, Texas A&M University Libraries released an Open Access portal which it had created through Primo. The portal, called Open Access to Knowledge Search (OAKSearch), bypasses the Libraries’ off-campus authentication protocols. The portal was set up at the request of the Scholarly Communication office at the TAMU Libraries to assist them in outreach projects as well as to offer a range of free, full-text resources to non-affiliated users. The presentation will focus on 3 aspects of the OAKSearch project: 1) technical issues that had to be addressed in setting up the portal; 2) content decisions that had to be made as to what to include in the portal; 3) a discussion of statistics that have been gathered from portal usage.
