Session Abstract
Research emphasizes the need for teacher guidance, tools and supports aimed at teaching language within school contexts. And we know that good language teaching is always embedded in socio-cultural contexts. In this session, Dr. Boals will review what we know about creating language-rich and assets-based learning environments throughout school, including a video clip illustrating how teaching language through content can occur seamlessly. Tim will also illustrate how WIDA’s efforts are supporting teachers in creating classrooms that maximize content and language learning for English language learners. During the last half hour of the session Dr. Boals will briefly discuss new developments at WIDA with our Massachusetts teachers.
