Short Talk 1: The Fundamental Flaw of the Social Sector

jeudi 11 juin 2015 à 09:30–11:15 EDT
Martha’s Vineyard (Main Lobby Level)
Session Description

In this short talk, Andrew Means, founder of The Impact Lab, will talk about the fundamental flaw of the social sector: the lack of real-time information about what is working. This leads to distortions in the philanthropic market that hamper our abilities to make the progress we seek. Never fear, there’s still hope! Data science can correct these distortions and radically change the way the social sector works. Means will share stories from his work applying the tools and methods of data science to social problems and lay out a vision for how data can help us make a more efficient and effective sector.
