Eric Shih, Groundswell
Speaker Biography

Eric Shih is the Chief Strategy Officer at Groundswell, a Mid-Atlantic nonprofit social enterprise building consumer-powered solutions for climate and economic justice. Eric focuses on expanding Groundswell’s record for social innovation and impact through continual improvement in planning, technology, and evaluation. Eric got his nonprofit start as a youth organizer working with immigrant communities in the Bay Area on environmental justice, and currently sits on the board of the Chinese Progressive Association in San Francisco. Eric received his B.A. from Stanford University and his M.A. in American Culture at the University of Michigan.

Joshua Joseph, The Pew Charitable Trusts
Speaker Biography

Josh is a planning and evaluation officer with The Pew Charitable Trusts.  He works with program directors and staff to develop viable/measurable strategies for research-based advocacy initiatives, and manages major evaluations for multi-year programs at the state and federal levels as well as internationally. He is involved in a range of related projects and advisory groups to encourage and support staff learning, knowledge sharing and capacity building, including designing and facilitating strategic retreats and workshops.  

Josh is also on the faculty at American University, where he teaches a hands-on graduate class on developing program strategy and theories of change.  Previously, he worked on developing metrics and monitoring systems for leadership development and performance management initiatives at Partnership for Public Service. He also spent four years managing the surveys unit for human resources publications at Bloomberg BNA.
