Competency-based Education: Two Universities, Two Models, One Goal: Student Success

lundi 9 novembre 2015 à 11:00–12:00 CST
Breakout 1 - Concurrent
Session Type

Concurrent - Includes content presentation and Q & A with audience

Session Description

Competency-based education has the potential to provide a path to a college degree for adult and post-traditional learners. As colleges and universities begin to develop such programs, different models are emerging in which students demonstrate mastery of academic content. Designing the appropriate institutional model poses questions about the role of prior learning assessment and the challenges of competency-based learning at the institutional level. Two different models of competency-based programs will be presented and examined.
