Session Description

This session will focus on the unique positioning of online programs at small institutions in today’s marketplace. Presenters will cover strategic concepts including: needs of online students and faculty, policy development and change related to admissions, registrar functions, necessary approvals, resources, key personnel, policy and decision-making, infrastructure, and resources. We will be using case studies related to different types of strategies and decisions that are facing small institutions today. Additionally, we will be utilizing checklists that to create self-awareness of leadership of online programs needed at a small institution.

Brief Bio

Vickie S. Cook serves as the Director of the Center for Online Learning, Research and Service at the University of Illinois Springfield. She has been involved in online leadership for over 20 years.

Brief Bio

Ray Schroeder is Associate Vice Chancellor for Online Learning and Professor Emeritus. Ray is a Sloan Consortium Distinguished Scholar in Online Learning 2002-2003, Visiting Scholar in Online Learning at the University of Southern Maine 2006-2008, and the recipient of the inaugural 2010 Frank Mayadas Leadership in Online Learning award.
