Session Description
How do you get your community “village”, large or small, to become involved with your college/university? California State University, San Marcos is in the forefront of program development and community outreach for both credit and noncredit. This session will cover how to grow trust in the community by developing deep partnerships. Each speaker will discuss what it takes to build collaborative success and how to build trust within the community for future growth in education. Advisory board development and examples will be shown. Form deeper partnerships with businesses, military and workforce, to volunteerism and stepping up to help a community, because it takes a village to be successful.

Wendy Evers is the Executive Director of Program Development and Community Outreach. Wendy’s job looks at the “30,000 foot level” in forecasting new and innovative industries emerging in San Diego, the country and globally. Wendy’s goal is to create and offer programs that meet workforce needs and careers. Wendy manages the Military and Veterans education, WIA, grants, Osher and online learning. Because her career has spanned 14 years in Higher Ed, Wendy is a speaker on “Education to Careers” across the Nation.
